The Careers NOW Construction course is composed of five training modules designed to encourage and challenge students as they pursue careers that fit their skill set and that are integral in helping them secure a successful career in the construction industry.
The five modules are as follows:
Module 1: Focuses on teaching students essential career enhancing skills: how to build a strong character, exemplary work ethic, and ways to make themselves highly valued by their employer.
Module 2: Concentrates on teaching basic construction concepts and is designed to give students a broad introduction to the construction industry. It is structured to help students find just the right fit between their skill set and a career in construction.
Module 3: Features a ten hour online OSHA Construction Certification Course, which is necessary for working in the construction industry.
Module 4: Is a supervised, Hands-on Construction Skill Workshop, to give students real life exposure to working together with other students with power tools to build a prototype wall with dry wall, waterlines, electrical service, a window, and an entry.
Module 5: Is a set of two lessons designed to give the successful student time to create a current resume, using a standard resume template. It also provides timely coaching on preparing for job interviews, practicing their 60 second commercial, and strategies to get the most out of job fairs/interviews, including the Program’s Hiring Fair.
